Today we depart hotel at 8h00 and drive towards Halong Bay, truly one of Vietnam’s most scenic impressive sights. On arrival in Halong Town we are welcomed on a traditional junk with a refreshing drink and get some boat information as well as kayak orientation. We row our kayak passing by the limestone karst formations which are littered with beaches and beautiful caves. At sunset we regroup at the escort boat for relaxation and dinner. The night paddle is available for kayaking fervors. O/N on board.

Day 2: Halong – Cua Van – Ba Ham Kayaking (B,L,D)

The sailing junks navigating past over 3,000 limestone islands and outcrops jutting out of the clear and emerald water of the bay make for a marvelous scene. We have an option to get up early to admire the splendid landscape and see the fishmen on a morning catch. The huge breakfast is an impressive way to start our active day. We continue cruising towards Ba Ham area for the second kayaking. Today we paddle around this scenic zone at our pace to explore the mystical rock formations, hidden caves as well as many secluded lagoons. The kayaking is not only activity in places. You have plenty of time for you own pleasure; swimming or simply soaking up the sunshine. O/N on board.

Day 3: Halong – Lan Ha Bay Kayaking – Ba Trai Dao (B,L,D)

Upon leaving our last night stop area we weave our way towards Lan Ha Bay. On arrival we get down to the turquoise water and row our kayak past the incredible rock formations of various shapes and sizes. The modern kayaking equipment will enable rowers to easily maximize on speed and venture into the many hidden lagoons or secluded caves. They are particularly difficult to be accessed by different means of transport. We paddle across an open sea area to Ba Trai Dao. These unspoiled beaches are an ideal place for anyone seeking an enjoyable escape. The perfect way to round off our day is a sunset paddle or leisurely swim on beaches. O/N on board.

Day 4: Halong Bay – Ba Hang Kayaking – Hanoi (B,L)

The traditional escort boat delivers us near Ba Hang area. We spend a few more hours rowing our kayak past Con Vit, Cay Tao and Veu rocks. These imposing islets are aptly named by their distinctive shapes. The amazing blend of the islands and the turquoise water is nothing short of spectacular. By mid morning we complete our exciting kayaking adventure and arrange our luggage to cruise back to the Halong pier. The shuttle bus will pick us up for a return journey. The trip ends after arrival in Hanoi.

This is time for us to settle into a private comfortable cabin and unpack for a three days exploring Halong Bay. The traditional boat cruises through Dinh Huong island , Ga Choi island, Sung Sot cave before it anchors at Soi Sim area, giving us a free hand kayaking. We row our kayak past the limestone karst formations which are littered with beaches and beautiful caves. At sunset we regroup at the escort boat for relaxation and dinner. The night paddle is available for kayaking fervors. O/N on board.

These imposing islets are aptly named by their distinctive shapes. By mid morning we complete our exciting kayaking adventure and arrange our luggage to cruise back to the Halong pier. The shuttle bus will pick us up for a return journey. The trip ends after arrival in Hanoi.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Halong Bay ( L, D )

Leave Hanoi for Halong Bay at 8.30am. On the way we will have a short break for refreshment at a handicraft centre (optional). Upon arrival in Halong City we board a wooden junk for a fine seafood lunch and a short cruise to Thien Cung Cave. After a short exploration of the cave we start our exploration of the bay paddling through an amazing area of limestone islets. We will pass a floating village to reach Luon Cave, which is a tunnel thrusting through a mountain. Paddling through the tunnel to explore a beautiful secluded lagoon. We will meet the in front of the cave. Aboard the junk for dinner and overnight in AC, private cabin.

Day 2: Kayaking Halong Bay ( B, L, D )

After breakfast we start paddling to Van Chai Floating village and then continue paddling to Dark Cave. Tide permitting, we explore this amazing cave by kayak. The cave is a 200m long, dark tunnel thrusting through a limestone mountain. The tunnel is the only entry to a secluded and beautiful lagoon. We can also explore some other caves nearby. Lunch on support boat in front of the cave. After lunch we paddle to Ba Trai Dao Lagoon, along a stunning and fairly rough sea channel, to explore its beautiful beaches. Continue paddling to Lan Ha Bay, which is smaller than Halong Bay but much more interesting with lots of secluded beaches. Cruise back to Halong Bay for dinner and overnight on mother boat.

Day 3: Halong Bay – Hanoi ( B, L )

Breakfast on the junk and enjoy the sundeck of the junk while she navigates amazing rock formations of Bai Tu Long Bay to get back to Halong City. Lunch on the junk before heading back to Hanoi by bus.

You will be picked up at your hotel in Hanoi and driven to Ha Long bay. Arrive Ha Long City around noon. Get on boat to enjoy fantastic sceneries of Ha Long bay. Lunch will be provided on board. Visit Sung Sot cave – the biggest one of Ha Long Bay (5-hours boat trip). Dinner and overnight on boat-house.

Day 2 : Full Kayaking

After breakfast. Get on another boat and cruse towards Lan Ha Bay. Kayaking to discover Lan Ha bay with Five Cat Dua, Three Cat Dua…Enjoy lunch with seafood on boat. In the afternoon, continue kayaking to visit Pearl fishery, fishing village, and monkey island…. Dinner and overnight in a simple resort by the beach.

Day 3: Cat Ba – Hai Phong – Hanoi

Stay free until we take another boat cruising to Catba island. Free lunch in town. Then we take speed boat to Hai Phong where we will join our vehicle again for the journey back to Hanoi. End trip.

Depart for Ha long Bay in a private air conditioned vehicle. Transfer to a private boat for a cruise among the 3, 000 spectacular limestone islands that rise from the emerald green waters of Ha Long Bay. Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch on board while the captain heads out for the horizon. Cruise to Quan Lan via the lesser known but equally magnificent Bai Tu Long bay with breathtaking scenery and thousands of limestone outcrops. There will be time to enjoy kayaking. Arrive at Quan Lan late afternoon. Stroll into the main village port Cai Bau. Dinner is served on board.

Day 2: Quan Lan island

After breakfast, explore desolate Quan Lan Island with its stunning deserted sandy beaches. There are many things to do on the island. There are five pristine beaches to discover, the best being Son Ha beach, (7km from the main village Cai Bau), with incredible white sands. Optional cycle on a flat single lane country road to the northern village on the island, Minh Chau. There are also three 7km trekking routes along the spine of the island on a great footpath over the mountains to the South, along a rocky coastline facing the sea, or more gently along a jeep trail on the opposite coast facing inland. In the afternoon sail to nearby Thang Loi Island.

Day 3: Quan Lan island – Halong bay – Hanoi.

After breakfast, cruise to Trong and Trinh Nu caves, Halong bay where we will paddle for three hours among the karst scenery near to the caves.  Then cruise further through the bay stopping to kayak inside Luon cave (if time permits). There, we will paddle through the tunnel and emerge into a crater lake, surrounded by impenetrable cliffs and gliding kites (subject to tidal conditions.) After lunch, cruise back to shore and return to Hanoi.

Day 3: Kayaking and transfer to Cat Ba Island.

Breakfast on boat. Transferred by support boat to Lan Ha Bay, where we start paddling across a wide sea channel to reach Dau Be Island, which has a small fishing settlement. To the western side of the island is Ho Ba Ham (Three Tunnel Lake), a deep grotto with three inland “lakes. The grotto is accessible only at low tide by kayak. There are beautiful beaches around, where we could stop for swimming. Optional paddling around the island. Lunch on support boat. In the afternoon we take a short transfer by support boat to Cat Ba Island. Overnight on Cat Ba Island.

Day 4: Cat Ba Island – Hai Phong City – Hanoi.

Breakfast in the morning and free at leisure. In the afternoon, we take hydrofoil to Hai Phong City. We meet our bus in Hai Phong and transfer back to Hanoi. End trip.

Whitewater kayaks are completely different from Sea or Touring kayaks. The type of kayak you choose depends completely on what type of paddling you wish to do and what level of paddler you are.

Paddle

Each type of kayaking uses a different type of paddle. The store where you buy your equipment can help you figure out which paddle goes with the kayak you decide to buy.

PFD

PFD stands for Personal Flotation Device and is essentially a life jacket or life preserver for kayakers.

Sprayskirt

Sprayskirts help keep the water out of the kayak. They are necessary for Whitewater and Sea Kayaking. Recreational kayaking can do without them. You must be sure that the skirt fits both you and the kayak.

Helmet

Helmets are a requirement for Whitewater Kayaking. They are not a requirement for Sea Kayaking.

Our guide meets you at your hotel and we get on the bus for Halong bay. Upon arrival, get on boat for lunch whilst cruising through hundreds of lime-stone islets that create such interesting images like “Fighting Coks”, “Man Head”, “Incense Urn”. Get into for visit of Thien Cung and Dau Go or Sung Sot grottoes. Our crew will let you time to swim or further explore of the bay with your kayaking skill. Day 2: Halong bay – Hanoi

Enjoy your breakfast while cruising back to Bai Chay. Our experienced guide allows ample time for questions and photographs with 3-hours sailing on peaceful water. One hour stop for your swim before approaching the mainland. Lunch in the restaurant in Halong city then travel back to Hanoi. Arriving Hanoi at 5pm will conclude your journey after a short refreshment stop where you may buy some souvenirs or have drinks.

Meet up at your hotel in Hanoi and drive to Thai Nguyen. Visit the Ethnology Museum to see its rich displays of the cultures of the various ethnic groups of Vietnam. Then depart to Ba Be Lake. Lunch en route. Arrival at Ba Be National Park and check in. Dinner and overnight in a village stilt house.

Day 2: River Rafting / Ba Be Lake

Paddle downstream the Nang River into Ba Be Lake. You will paddle through marshlands and down easy and calm small river. Picnic lunch, then continue river paddle. Arrive at the lake and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the unspoiled tropical jungle, emerald waters, limestone mountains and the tribal lifestyle. Drive back to the village for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Kayaking / Ba Be Lake

Paddle to explore the National Park and visit to limestone grottoes and trible ethnic minority villages. Continue lake paddle or rendezvous with motor launch and transfer to dock. Dinner and overnight at Ba Be Guest House.

Day 4: Ba Be Lake – Hanoi

Depart for Hanoi. Along the way, enjoy the lovely scenery of the semi mountainous region with local villages, palm trees and hills covered with tea plantations. Lunch en route. Arrive Hanoi around afternoon, transfer to your hotel in Hanoi.

Early departure to Haiphong city. Then take speed boat to Catba island. Check-in hotel. In the afternoon, paddle kayak to visit floating fishing villages to learn about the people daily life.
